One of the hardest choices I had to make when I was 15 was to chose which band I would ask a girl on my 1st date. While I was always working; cutting yards, paper route, working with my Uncle Albert, my parents would only allow me to go to ...one concert that June. I loved both Rush & Aerosmith but I had to think what would impress my date(friends still today). With Aerosmith at the Convention Center I had to know that this was the Big League and Aerosmith's Rocks Album was just more of a rockin fun album. So there I went one early Saturday morning to Joske's dowtown to get my tickets. Those were the days of going on the 1st bus to go and wait in line for tickets. It was a bit wild at that age having to rush in with the crowd up the escalatiors to the 3rd floor and ticket/layaway office. Not sure why I didn't have the ruffly 13 dollars but having gone with my mom several times to Joske's I knew you could layaway, so I did. That Friday I showed up to pick her up, a bit nervous but her mom knew my mom and told us to have a great time. As we walked outside she said, were's your car? I said I'm 15, I don't have a car... we have to take the bus.... but hey, I got floor tickets!- This sure did help. What an amazing 1st time seeing Aerosmith and nice 1st date. I bought us both t-shirts and tour books and we ended the night with my older brother giving us a ride home. After that night, I would push my dads station wagon on to the street and I taught myself how to drive a 3 speed. With some time passing and now 16, I asked my dad to teach me how to drive as I wanted to ask this girl out to another concert. I said if I can show you that I can drive would you lend me the truck to pick up my date? He smiled and said sure-)))... We drove across to Burbank High school and he showed me how to put in the clutch and change gears. When he gave me a go he was like WOW, your a fast learner! lol. So I was able to borrowed the truck and picked up my date and my two other friends. Those were some of the best times now looking back. A big thank you Jack Orbin and Greg Wilson for all the great bands they brought to San Antonio! - David L Peché
